Laboratory Furniture

There is a special pleasure in working in a laboratory which you have contributed to the design of – and this starts from the moment you begin planning with us. One aim of HFH is to provide you with all the information you need to create an ideal working environment from a simple teaching or preparation laboratory to a multi-discipline research building. Our total capability includes laboratory furniture, fume cupboards, extraction systems, make up air and site M&E service connections giving you ‘single source’ responsibility in contract control, a very desirable feature when handling large contracts. If you are interested in achieving a modern laboratory facility we would be delighted to discuss the project with you or your appointed design team.

Once you have your list of requirements you will need to consider them in light of priorities – wants versus needs. There are a variety of bench top support systems and numerous work surface materials available depending upon your intended application. At the design stage, you hold one-to-one briefings with a member of our Technical Sales team during which you will be encouraged to discuss matters which can impact on price and delivery including; bench top loading, chemical, heat and stain resistance, equipment space both freestanding and under bench, M&E services distribution, fume cupboards and associated extract & make-up air systems. We will introduce you to various options based upon our specialist knowledge and experience so as to ensure the final agreed design and specification meets your requirements and budget.

FIXED PEDESTAL: This system of benching is constructed by placing the under bench units in position, after which the worktops are fixed to them. This method produces a very robust and economical construction not requiring additional legs and is capable of withstanding heavy bench loads.

CANTILEVER: This system appeals where flexibility is of great importance. ‘T’ or ‘H’ shaped metal leg supports are fixed to a continuous softwood wall batten at centres of no less than one metre. Under bench units are not fixed to the worktop so can be repositioned to suit any individual requirements.

SUSPENDED: This system appeals where flexibility and ease of cleaning are a priority. A self supporting ‘C’ shaped metal frame is employed, under bench units are then hung from the frame allowing access to the floor for ease of cleaning.
